Create your own Dreams
"Don't let someone else catch your dreams. You be the dreamcatcher."
During this wonderfully creative and unique class, the hoop, webbing material, feathers, leather, yarn, waxed linen and cotton will all be provided.
This experience is about falling into your own creativity, so you are encouraged to collect precious and inspiring objects to add to your dreamcatcher. Let them talk to you as you go through your life, drawers and cupboards, out in the world and in nature: Such as feathers, jewelry, crystals, ribbon, yarn, lace, leather, beads, bones, antlers or wood. During our time together there will be snacks, drinks, laughter, silence and community. The lore of Dreamcatchers have been part of the Native American culture for centuries.Their shape is a circle to represent continuity, the cycle of life and its different phases. In the circle, you find a web with an 'eye' or the hole in the middle. Legend has it the good dreams would slip through the hole in the middle and slide down the feathers to fall on the individual sleeping. The bad dreams would be caught in the web, never reaching the sleeper. Thus the dreamcatcher is thought to protect the individual sleeping and bring forth spiritual dreams. In other words a guardian of sleep and filter and protector against bad dreams and disturbing visions. |
